San Pedro de Atacama - Geysers & Cactus Trek

Following a 24 hour bus ride from Santiago we arrived in San Pedro de Atacama in the north of Chile. The following day we were up at 5am to get a minibus to the Tatio Geyser field 90km from San Pedro. It was freezing (minus 6) and dark as we made our way around the different geysers but the view was quite amazing.

Spectacular

After a couple of hours walking around the different geysers we were able to bathe in the hot pools. At 4200mt this was the highest altitude we had been at and we both felt quite breathless. Unfortunately Keith started to feel really sick  so we skipped the pool.

After leaving the geothermal field Keith began to feel better and so off we went to trek through cacti!

An old village!

This little lama couldn´t leave the village due to being unable to defend itself against predators so was being bottle fed by an old lady :)

A giant cactus.
